Developed by the BWB Publishing Trust, the Books in School Libraries programme places key BWB titles in all secondary school libraries. Teacher focus groups, working with education specialist Gillian Candler, select the books and prepare teacher notes for each title. We hugely appreciate the contribution that teachers make to the effectiveness of the Books in School Libraries programme.
And we warmly thank the trusts and individuals who have so generously funded Books in School Libraries distributions (see www.bwbpublishingtrust.org.nz). They share our vision about the significance of knowledge of New Zealand, and its place in the education of New Zealand students. With the support of our donors, high-quality BWB books on New Zealand history and contemporary issues are made available to students throughout the country, enriching the learning environment and helping young New Zealanders to gain a fuller understanding of their country, its past and its future.
The Books in School Libraries programme makes a positive contribution to New Zealand schools at a time when school libraries are often working with constrained budgets. The responses from schools have been overwhelming: as one librarian wrote in mid-2015: ‘the teachers whooped with joy’!
